Lithuanian photonics firm Altechna has been chosen to contribute to TALOS-TWO, a major initiative to create Europe’s first entirely sovereign 100-kilowatt laser weapon. Backed by the European Defence Fund, the €25 million ($27 million) project aims to bolster the effectiveness of air, land, and naval platforms with a high-powered directed-energy weapon. The system is expected to significantly improve both precision and firepower, with completion targeted by 2030.
