Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), India’s premier aerospace and defense entity, has initiated a significant step to boost the combat survivability and operational effectiveness of its Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) fleet. HAL has released a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the joint development of an advanced Electronic Warfare (EW) Suite, spearheaded by its Strategic Electronics Research & Design Centre (SLRDC) in Hyderabad. This effort marks a pivotal move in advancing indigenous defense technologies. Designed for high-altitude warfare, the HAL-developed LCH is capable of operating in a variety of challenging environments, from mountainous border regions to low-level engagements. Equipped with air-to-air and anti-tank guided missiles, as well as rockets, the LCH plays both offensive and defensive roles. The integration of a modern EW suite is now essential to adapt to the complexities of contemporary warfare and enhance mission survivability.
