The Romanian Ministry of Defense has announced plans to acquire 44 used Amphibious Assault Vehicles (AAVs) from the United States—twice the number initially proposed in 2023. This procurement is part of a broader effort to modernize the Romanian Army and enhance its operational capabilities through 2040. The planned acquisition involves AAV-7 variants, according to official documents obtained by DefenseRomania. The proposal has been forwarded to the Romanian parliament for approval.
