Poland’s Pit-Radwar has launched the SA-35MM, a very short-range air defense system featuring a 35mm cannon with programmable airburst ammunition. The system’s rounds are programmed to detonate at the right time for optimal results, allowing fewer rounds to be used when intercepting small aerial threats like drones. The company reports that just seven airburst rounds can deliver a 97% probability of a drone kill, whereas 24 traditional rounds are needed for a 99% success rate.
