Lockheed Martin officials said during an earnings call that they hope to secure a contract with the U.S. government for the 18th and 19th F-35 production lots by year’s end. Still, ongoing delays in contract negotiations and the withholding of large payments until the latest jets are combat-ready are costing the company hundreds of millions of dollars.
