France and NATO forces will soon benefit from the MTO-LP, a long-range loitering munition designed to meet modern battlefield requirements. The system can be quickly deployed by two personnel in less than half an hour, with the capability to launch up to 10 munitions simultaneously for synchronized missions. Its flexible, platform-independent design significantly reduces logistical demands, enhancing mobility and simplifying in-theatre support.

Engineered for long-range target engagement, the MTO-LP is scheduled to reach its initial operational capability by 2026, with annual production set at 1,000 warheads. Planned advancements in 2027 include improvements in survivability, expanded mission profiles, and the integration of varied warhead options to support long-range strike missions. The first flight trials are expected in mid-2025.

The collaboration between Thales and Boreal not only reinforces France’s defense manufacturing base but also supports Boreal’s industrial scale-up and creates potential collaborative pathways in Belgium.
