The US government has greenlit a comprehensive support package to help Kuwait maintain its M1A2 and M1A2K Abrams tanks under a $325 million defense deal. This initiative will ensure long-term sustainment and operational efficiency of Kuwait’s heavy armor force, a vital pillar of its national defense architecture.

The deal comprises extensive logistics support, technical assistance, supply chain management, and overhaul capabilities. It will cover both routine maintenance and long-term lifecycle sustainment. Included in the package are diagnostic tools, training materials, and on-site field services to help Kuwaiti forces independently manage system upkeep.

The contract will be fulfilled by General Dynamics Land Systems, the tank’s original developer, ensuring high compatibility with the Abrams platform. Kuwait’s tank force plays a key role in the Gulf region’s military posture. The US emphasized that the sale will support the foreign policy and national security objectives of maintaining a stable and allied Middle East partner.
