The Pentagon has launched a strategic program called Project G.I. to ramp up the availability of advanced drone technologies tailored for modern combat scenarios. The goal is to develop scalable small and mid-sized drones that can be rapidly deployed with minimal adjustments.

This effort invites defense vendors to propose mature and practical drone systems, focusing less on innovation complexity and more on operational readiness. Importantly, the program encourages direct feedback from active military personnel during the design and testing phases. Submissions are open until the end of 2025, with three winning companies sharing a $20 million incentive fund.
